What is Christ Church about?

We believe that God is calling us to listen to him as we continue to seek the renewal of our church. Our priorities are:

  1. we are starting the process of establishing Clusters as the primary focus for our church's fellowship, pastoral care and outreach. A Cluster is a mid-week community of up to 60 people committed to seeking the Kingdom of God - deepening their relationship with him and with each other and sharing Jesus with those who don't yet know him.
  2. we are seeking to know more of the reality and power of God's Kingdom. When Jesus announced the coming of God's Kingdom he did more than talk about it - he demonstrated it in signs and wonders and acts of power. The apostle Paul likewise said that the Kingdom is not about talk but about power. We believe that as disciples of Jesus we should expect to see a lot more of this in our church and our lives than we do at the moment.

What is 'the Kingdom of God'?
Throughout the Gospels we read of Jesus announcing that 'the Kingdom of God is near (or at hand)'. In doing so he is talking about the righting of all wrongs, the healing of individuals and the nations, the overturning of all injustice and the removal of all that spoils human life and society. It's a fantastic vision of God's love reaching down to a world that has turned away from him. Instead of rejecting and judging the world, he sends his Son to bring the world back to himself.' Our vision as a church is to seek the Kingdom of God - as Jesus himself commanded us to do.
