Inside Out: Local Projects

We are excited to be planning range of projects over the weekend to bless our local community. All projects will run over two sessions (2 hour sessions on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning) but they may include different activities on each day - see below for more details. You will be asked for your project preference during the booking process - please note this does not guarantee a place on a certain team but we will attempt to allocate your preferred project where possible.

Volunteer with found

Leaders: Stu Walton & Teresa Davenport
An opportunity to engage with the ministry of our charity shop found including tidying, sorting, cleaning, pricing or recycling in the shop on Saturday afternoon and creating Bible canvas crafts on Sunday morning that can be shared with customers or displayed at found.
Suitable for All ages, art and craft skills welcome but not essential.
 

Bless Grange Farm Estate

Leader: Gilly Flashman
An opportunity to bless Grange Farm Estate. We'll be asking the Explorers (ages 5-11) to prayerfully suggest activities for this project, which could include litter picking, prayer walking and acts of kindness.
Suitable for All ages, including parents and other adults as well as children!
 

Shaftesbury Circle SOS

Leader: tbc
An active project aiming to clear large amounts of rubbish that have accumulated on Shaftesbury circle and around the back of found, hopefully engaging local residents and shopkeepers in the process and working to make it sustainable.
Bring/wear: Suitable clothing to change into.
Suitable for Ages 13+

 

Acts of kindness

Leader: Rachael Matthews
We will be blessing local homes and Christ Church contacts with gifts. On Saturday we'll have fun preparing gifts at Christ Church (plants, chocolates, etc) ready to walk or drive to deliver these on Sunday morning and chat briefly on the doorstep.
Suitable for Ages 8+, crafty skills welcome but not essential


Prayer walking

Leader: Barbara Workman
An opportunity to involve ourselves with the community, pray for needs we see around us and have conversations with people about God’s love for them, as we head out in small groups for prayer and possible 'treasure hunting'.
Bring/wear: Suitable footwear
Suitable for All ages (children should be accompanied by an adult), ideally including some with training on treasure hunting

 

Hang out at the YMCA

Leader: Reece Kyriacou
We're looking for a small group to spend time with our neighbours at the YMCA to chat with residents, play pool or other low key activities with the aim of building trust and friendship.
Suitable for All ages (children should be accompanied by an adult)


Evangelism training and action

Leader: Paul Cable
On Saturday we'll be offering evangelism training before heading out onto the streets on Sunday morning to ask questions of the general public and give it a try!
Suitable for All ages (children should be accompanied by an adult)


Stay & pray

Leader: Margaret Lucking
You're invited to stay at Christ Church to pray for the projects above as they unfold. There may also be an opportunity to help with some of the preparations for acts of kindness.
